If you are looking for something totally out of the ordinary to add to your library of PC Games, Baby Steps is a hilariously frustrating adventure you have to try. Developed by the twisted minds behind Getting Over It, this quirky indie game redefines what a walking simulator actually is. Instead of just pressing a key to move forward, you have to manually coordinate every single clumsy footstep. It is chaotic and surprisingly addictive once you learn the ropes. If you want a bizarre, laugh-out-loud challenge to download on your computer, this title delivers funny physics that make every successful step feel like a massive win.
Storyline
The plot follows Nate, an unemployed failson who spends his days doing absolutely nothing until he is mysteriously teleported to a strange, misty mountain. Stranded in a completely unknown world wearing nothing but a dirty onesie, he suddenly discovers his true hidden power—putting one foot in front of the other. The narrative is heavily improvised and does not take itself seriously at all, throwing random jokes your way as Nate awkwardly hikes up the terrain. He meets weird locals, encounters strange animals, and somehow tries to find some sort of purpose in his life, making for an incredibly charming and absurd journey.
gaming experience.
When it comes to the gaming experience, everything revolves around mastering the punishing physics without losing your mind. Walking feels like a high-stakes puzzle where you must carefully control the timing and angle of Nate's legs to survive steep cliffs and slippery mud. Fumble a step, and he will tumble all the way down the hill, forcing you to climb back up. While the controls are intentionally awkward, the moment they finally click for you is super satisfying. Combined with a dynamic dirt system that ruins his clothes when he falls and a catchy interactive soundtrack, it offers a uniquely funny, challenging, and rewarding gameplay loop.
