If you are scrolling through unpackgames looking for something completely chaotic to play with your friends, reading this article might just save your weekend. BattleBlock Theater is a wonderfully bizarre, fast-paced puzzle platformer from the same brilliant minds behind Castle Crashers. Finding a title that successfully mixes genuinely challenging platforming with literal laugh-out-loud comedy is pretty rare in the massive ocean of modern PC games. Whether you want to tackle the obstacle courses solo or constantly scream at your buddies in couch co-op, this quirky gem is an absolute must-play that completely refuses to take itself seriously.

Storyline

The plot kicks off with one of the funniest, most energetic animated intros you will ever see. You and hundreds of your best friends, including the universally beloved Hatty Hattington, are sailing the ocean when a massive storm shipwrecks your boat on a mysterious, decaying island. You wake up only to find that you have been taken prisoner by a society of highly technological, highly sadistic cats. Worse still, they have forced a cursed, glowing top hat onto Hatty, turning him into their depressed, evil puppet leader. You are then thrown into a literal theater of death, forced to perform in deadly stage plays just to entertain your feline captors and save your imprisoned crew.

Gaming Experience

When you finally hit the stage, the gameplay is pure, addictive platforming chaos. You will run, jump, and punch your way through hundreds of levels made of sticky walls, deadly spikes, and exploding blocks while collecting green gems to unlock hilarious new character faces. What really makes it stand out among other co-op PC games is how it constantly encourages both teamwork and hilarious betrayal. Working together to throw your partner over a massive gap feels great, but purposely tossing them into a pool of water just for a laugh is even better. With incredibly tight controls, wild weapons like explosive frogs, and endless user-generated stages, it is a perfectly chaotic experience you will not want to put down.
