Storyline
The campaign covers a massive chunk of the iconic lore, kicking off right in the middle of the famous Golden Age arc. You step into the shoes of Guts, a lone, battle-hardened mercenary who gets roped into joining the Band of the Hawk by their charismatic leader, Griffith. From fighting alongside your tight-knit mercenary crew in massive medieval sieges to diving headfirst into pure dark fantasy horror filled with demons and crushing betrayals, the plot does not pull its punches. It does a really solid job of keeping the grim, mature themes intact, giving you front-row seats to one of the most tragic and badass stories ever told.
Gaming experience
When it comes to the actual gameplay, it’s an absolute bloodbath in the best way possible. The developers took their classic hack-and-slash formula and dialed the gore all the way up to eleven. You can literally feel the heavy, devastating impact of Guts' Dragonslayer sword as you mow down thousands of monsters and enemy soldiers in a single mission. Plus, you get to play as other fan-favorite characters who all bring totally unique combat styles and flashy super moves to the battlefield. It's a wildly fun, turn-off-your-brain kind of rampage that easily stands out as one of the most brutal hack-and-slash PC Games out there today.
