If you are craving a wildly chaotic and unapologetically weird boomer shooter, Captain Wayne – Vacation Desperation needs to be on your radar. This indie title crashes into the library of modern PC Games with a ridiculous, hand-drawn art style that feels like an early 2000s flash cartoon brought to life. It does not take itself seriously at all, trading gritty realism for hot pink colors, explosive action, and non-stop silliness. It is the perfect weekend blast for anyone who just wants to turn off their brain, load up some crazy weapons, and cause some massive mayhem.
Storyline
You step into the boots of Captain Wayne, a cigar-chomping sailor who literally replaced his lost arm with a double-barreled shotgun after a brutal fight with a Vampire Whale. The chaos kicks off when Wayne is left marooned on the sunny Orca Isle after a ruthless group of mercenaries known as the Killer Whales steals his beloved ship. Driven by pure revenge and a terrible attitude, you set out on a violent vacation across eight action-packed areas to take back what is yours. It is a hilarious, over-the-top revenge plot filled with wacky animated cutscenes that perfectly match the game's frantic energy.
Gaming experience.
The gameplay here is intensely fast and ridiculously fun. It plays like a classic retro FPS but cranks up the speed and absurdity to the absolute max. You will be sprinting, dodging, and using your trusty shotgun arm to blast through waves of goofy but dangerous enemies. The movement mechanics are an absolute blast; you can fling yourself across the map with perfectly timed kick jumps, keeping the momentum going as you hurl explosive barrels or even spit watermelon seeds at bad guys. Mastering its chaotic combat loop makes it one of the most uniquely entertaining PC Games you can play right now.
