If you are constantly scrolling through Steam looking for unique PC games that will actually test your lightning-fast reflexes, Magenta Horizon – Neverending Harvest is an absolute hidden gem you need to play. Developed by solo creator Maddison Baek, this indie 2D action platformer plays out like a hyper-stylized, chaotic love letter to classic spectacle fighters. It completely ditches the slow, careful pacing of standard side-scrollers for pure, blistering speed, throwing you right into a surreal purgatory that feels like a living prog-rock album cover.

Storyline

The narrative follows Gretel, a fierce reaper who has been locked away in a mysterious sarcophagus for two centuries. When a wandering soul named Archibald stumbles along and frees her, Gretel takes on the daunting task of guiding him through a grotesque, demon-infested afterlife back to the sanctuary she was long ago exiled from. It is a beautifully grim, dark fantasy backdrop that gives your non-stop combat a genuine sense of purpose, packed with distinct lore that keeps you hooked between the action.

The platforming requires absolute precision and the combat arenas get intensely crowded, but finding your rhythm makes every hard-fought victory incredibly rewarding.
