If you're craving some chaotic tower defense mixed with fast-paced action, Orcs Must Die! 3 absolutely hits the spot. It's the kind of title that reminds you why we love firing up PC games—it doesn't try to be a super serious cinematic masterpiece, it just wants you to have stupid amounts of fun blowing up literal armies of monsters. You basically get to set up a personalized gauntlet of creative traps and then jump right into the fray yourself, hacking and blasting everything in sight. It’s a pure, unadulterated blast of chaotic mayhem.

Storyline

The story picks up over 20 years after the events of the second game. The classic War Mage and Sorceress have finally rebuilt the Order, and now it's time to pass the torch. You step into the shoes of their new, slightly in-over-their-heads apprentices, Egan and Kelsey, who have to deal with a fresh and massive orc invasion. The narrative is basically a lighthearted fantasy romp; it doesn't take itself too seriously and mostly serves as a fun, snappy excuse to drop you into different castles and battlefields. There’s a goofy villain, some funny banter between the rookies, and a whole lot of magical rifts that desperately need protecting.

Gaming experience

Playing this game is incredibly satisfying because every level is essentially a giant, violent puzzle. You spend your planning phase turning simple hallways into absolute meat grinders using spike traps, arrow walls, and freezing vents. Then, the action kicks off and you're suddenly dodging huge ogres while unloading a grenade launcher. The craziest new addition here is the "War Scenarios" mode, which drops hundreds of orcs on the screen at once and lets you use massive, mountable War Machines like giant catapults. Whether you're carefully routing enemies solo or screaming at your buddy in co-op to cover the left flank, finding the perfect combo to shred the horde never gets old.
