As someone who plays a ton of PC games, I am always hunting for titles that bring a new twist to the classic Metroidvania formula, and this underwater adventure totally nails it. Instead of jumping across dusty castles, you are swimming freely through gorgeous, hand-drawn aquatic environments. It is vibrant, slightly creepy, and packs a surprisingly deep punch that will easily hook you in right from the very first boss fight.
Storyline
The plot drops you into the ruined underwater city of Royla, a once-thriving biopunk metropolis now overrun by mutated, terrifying marine life. You step into the fins of Pronty, a genetically modified fish-human hybrid who teams up with a badass robotic swordfish named Bront. Together, you are on a desperate mission to stop these aggressive mutants from completely destroying what is left of your submerged home. It is not just a simple hero story, though. As you explore the drowned ruins, you slowly piece together the dark, tragic history of Royla and the shady corporate experiments that led to its ultimate downfall.

What really makes this stand out from other PC games is the super unique combat system. Instead of swinging a weapon yourself, you command your mechanical buddy Bront to strike, block, and dash through enemies like a remote-controlled javelin. It takes a quick second to get used to, but once it clicks, zipping around giant mutant sea creatures feels incredibly fluid and satisfying. Because you are underwater, the movement is completely omnidirectional, meaning you can float anywhere on the screen to dodge incoming attacks. Combine that smooth control scheme with awesome, fast-paced boss fights, and you get a beautifully challenging ride that never gets boring.
