If you and your squad are looking for a wildly chaotic co-op adventure, We Need To Go Deeper is an absolute blast that deserves a prime spot in your library of PC Games. This indie gem throws you into a Jules Verne-inspired 2D submarine, where you and up to three friends have to scramble and survive the terrifying depths of the ocean. It features a super charming, hand-drawn art style that totally tricks you into thinking it will be a relaxing ride, right before a giant sea monster suddenly tears a massive hole in your hull. It is hilarious, punishing, and perfectly built for a messy, laughter-filled gaming session with your crew.
Storyline
The premise is straightforward but sets the perfect stage for pure madness. You are part of a 19th-century crew diving headfirst into a mysterious, ever-changing undersea trench known as The Living Infinite. There isn't a heavy cinematic plot forcing you down a specific path; instead, the narrative is driven entirely by the crazy, unpredictable situations you stumble into. You will discover weird underwater civilizations, dig up shiny buried treasure in dark caves, and explore creepy randomized biomes while trying to figure out what exactly is hiding in the pitch-black waters below.
gaming experience
Playing this game is basically an exercise in managing absolute panic. Everyone on the team has to actually communicate and work together to steer the sub, frantically patch up water leaks, and load torpedoes before the pressure crushes you all. The gameplay really shines when you park the ship and hop out in vintage diving suits to explore abandoned ruins on foot, fighting off creepy crawlies face-to-face. Since it is a tough roguelike, you are definitely going to die a lot, but every failed run gives you cash to unlock better gear and ridiculous cosmetic outfits for your next dive. It is a wildly addictive loop that easily keeps you hooked for hours.
